How to judge whether the worm gear oil of CWS315-50-IV reducer needs to be replaced

The determination of whether the lubricating oil of CWS315-50-IV reducer (usually belonging to CWS series worm gear reducer) needs to be replaced is mainly based on two dimensions: "intuitive judgment of operating status" and "detection of oil physical and chemical indicators".

Considering that CWS315 belongs to a larger specification gearbox (with a center distance of 315mm), its oil volume is large and the cost of oil change is high, it is recommended to make a comprehensive judgment based on the following criteria:

1. Intuitive judgment method (quick on-site judgment)

If there is a lack of professional testing equipment, you can make a preliminary judgment by observing the appearance of the oil and the operation performance of the gearbox.

(1) Check the color and status:

Normal: New oil usually appears semi transparent or light yellow/amber in color.

Need to replace: The oil color has darkened and turned black, or it has become cloudy or opaque. If the oil appears milky white, it indicates that water (emulsion) has been mixed into the oil and must be replaced immediately, otherwise it may cause gear corrosion.

(2) Smell the scent:

Replacement required: If there is a noticeable burnt or pungent sour smell, it indicates that the lubricating oil has undergone high-temperature oxidation and deterioration.

(3) Check for impurities:

Replacement required: Take a small amount of oil sample and drop it onto the filter paper. If there are too many obvious metal powders (copper powder or iron filings) or solid particle impurities, it indicates severe internal wear and requires oil replacement and inspection of internal components.

(4) Listening to sound and measuring temperature:

Replacement required: Abnormal sharp whistling or impact sound during the operation of the gearbox, or abnormal temperature rise of the casing under normal load conditions (such as temperature rise exceeding 40 ℃ or surface temperature exceeding 80 ℃), are usually manifestations of oil film rupture and lubrication failure.

2. Professional testing method (precise quantitative indicators)

For large equipment like CWS315, it is recommended to regularly take samples and send them for inspection for scientific maintenance. When the oil level reaches the following oil change threshold, it must be replaced:

3. Time cycle (bottom line standard)

Even if the appearance and testing indicators of the oil appear normal, it is recommended to replace it at the following time points to prevent natural aging of the oil:

(1) First oil change: After running for 100-200 hours (break in period), the new gearbox must change the first oil to remove the metal particles generated by initial wear.

(2) Regular oil change:

General operating conditions: Replace every 3000-4000 hours of operation or every six months to one year.

Adverse working conditions: If the ambient temperature is high, there is a lot of dust, or frequent heavy load starting, the oil change cycle should be shortened (such as checking every 3 months).
