What are the common faults of reducers in filling machinery

As the core component of the filling machinery transmission system, the operation status of the reducer directly affects the production efficiency and accuracy of the equipment. Based on the general characteristics of industrial reducers and the specific working conditions of filling machinery, common faults mainly focus on the following aspects:

1. Abnormal noise and vibration

This is one of the most intuitive manifestations of a gearbox malfunction. In filling machines, it is usually caused by the following reasons:

Gear and bearing damage: Gear wear, tooth surface peeling, improper meshing clearance, or damage to the internal ball/raceway of the bearing, excessive clearance, etc., can all cause irregular friction sounds, impact sounds, and severe vibrations in the equipment.

Loose connectors: The anchor bolts, motor fixing screws, or transmission shaft locking screws become loose due to long-term operation, resulting in relative displacement and unbalanced force distribution of the components.

Incorrect installation: If the gearbox is not aligned with the motor and coupling (resulting in a deviation in fit), it can cause serious abnormal noise and vibration.

2. Lubricating oil leakage

Oil leakage not only causes waste of oil, but also leads to insufficient internal lubrication, causing more serious mechanical failures. Common oil leakage points and causes include:

Aging or damage of seals: The skeleton oil seal and O-ring of the input/output shaft have hardened and cracked after long-term use, losing their sealing effect.

Poor adhesion of the joint surface: insufficient machining accuracy between the box and the end cover, or foreign objects on the surface during assembly, uneven application of sealant; Loose fastening bolts can also cause oil leakage from gaps.

Internal pressure is too high: blockage of the respirator (vent hole) causes the oil and gas inside the box to expand, or excessive lubricating oil is added, forcing the oil to overflow from the sealing gap.

3. Excessive temperature (overheating)

When the temperature of the reducer oil continues to rise (such as exceeding 70 ℃ -90 ℃), it will accelerate the degradation of the lubricant and shorten the bearing life. The main reasons are:

Poor lubrication: Insufficient or excessive amount of lubricating oil, deterioration of oil quality (such as mixing with water and emulsification), improper viscosity of selected oil, and inability to form an effective protective film.

Overloaded operation: The filling machine has been operating at overload for a long time, increasing the mechanical friction load on the gears and bearings.

Blocked heat dissipation: The working environment of the filling machine may require frequent water washing or solvent wiping. If the external heat sink is covered with dust or oil, or if the cooling fan fails, it will seriously affect the heat dissipation efficiency.
