How to restore the use of WP series reducers after overload

1. Immediately shut down and conduct a comprehensive inspection

After overload occurs, the power should be cut off first and the reducer should be thoroughly inspected. Focus on observing whether there is abnormal noise, severe vibration, oil leakage, and whether there is wear or fatigue damage to the internal components of the gearbox. At the same time, it is necessary to check the load situation and confirm whether it exceeds the rated torque or power range of the equipment.

2. Check and replace lubricating oil

Overloading can easily cause an increase in the internal temperature of the gearbox, thereby accelerating the aging of the lubricating oil. It is necessary to check the oil level and quality of the lubricating oil. If the lubricating oil is found to be significantly cloudy, deteriorated, or expired, it should be replaced as soon as possible. When replacing, the specified type of lubricating oil must be used, and it is strictly prohibited to mix lubricating oils of different qualities.

3. Check installation and coaxiality

Abnormal stress caused by overload may lead to loosening or displacement of installation components. It is necessary to recheck whether the installation base of the reducer is firm and whether the foot bolts are loose. At the same time, it is necessary to ensure that the axes of the connecting parts of the prime mover (motor), reducer, and working machine remain coaxial to avoid additional friction and heating caused by poor coaxiality.

4. Standardized no-load running in (key steps)

After confirming the troubleshooting and refilling the lubricating oil, do not start directly at full load. The no-load running in must be carried out according to the specifications:

Firstly, conduct a no-load running in for no less than 24 hours (which is particularly important for worm gear reducers).

After normal no-load operation, if conditions permit, the load should be gradually increased in stages at 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%. Each stage must run until the oil temperature is balanced and confirmed to be normal before entering the next stage.

5. Improve operating conditions and heat dissipation

When restoring use, it is necessary to ensure that the equipment operates within the rated load range and overloading is strictly prohibited. Suggest using a soft start method to avoid full load startup or frequent hard shocks; If reversing operation is required, wait for the machine to come to a complete stop before turning in the opposite direction. In addition, it is necessary to ensure that the ventilation device of the gearbox is unobstructed. If the ambient temperature is high or continuous high load operation occurs, additional insulation and cooling measures should be taken.

6. Professional maintenance intervention

If serious damage is found to internal components such as gears, bearings, or oil seals during disassembly and inspection after overload, or if there are still issues such as abnormal temperature rise or abnormal noise during the recovery process, they should not be easily disassembled by themselves. It is recommended to promptly contact the manufacturer or notify qualified professional maintenance personnel for handling. During assembly, it is necessary to strictly comply with the specifications and apply sealant and fastening glue.
