How to avoid oil leakage at the oil level plug/drain plug of NMRV50 worm gear reducer

1、 Installation specification stage (source prevention)

1. Standardize installation orientation: During installation, it is necessary to strictly follow the correct installation orientation and ensure that the ventilation holes are facing upwards. If the orientation is incorrect and the ventilation hole is blocked, the pressure inside the box cannot be released, which can easily cause oil leakage at the screw plug or weak sealing point.

2. Thread and gasket treatment: Before screwing in the oil level plug and drain plug, be sure to check if the threads are intact. It is recommended to apply oil resistant sealant on the thread and use a brand new sealing gasket, then tighten it to the specified torque. Excessive force is strictly prohibited from causing the thread to slip.

3. Accurate control of oil level: The refueling amount should be strictly controlled at the centerline position of the fuel window (usually 1/2-2/3). If excessive oil is added to the worm gear reducer, the gears will vigorously stir during operation, causing an increase in oil temperature and internal pressure, and lubricating oil will be directly squeezed out from the gap of the screw plug.

2、 Daily operation and maintenance stage (process control)

1. Regularly clean the ventilation cap: Friction and heat generated during the operation of the gearbox can cause air expansion inside the box. If the ventilation cap is blocked by oil sludge and dust, the internal positive pressure cannot be released, and the oil will be forcibly squeezed out from the screw plug by the pressure difference. It is recommended to clean the filter every 3 months, and for high dust environments, it should be shortened to monthly cleaning.

2. Regular inspection and oil change: Worm gears and worm gears operate in a frictional manner, and the wear powder generated during long-term operation can contaminate the lubricating oil. This not only accelerates the wear of seals, but may also block the return oil path. It is recommended to replace the lubricating oil every 3000 hours (1500 hours in harsh environments) during continuous operation, and to synchronously check and replace the aging sealing gasket of the screw plug during each oil change.

3. Monitoring operating conditions: To avoid long-term overload operation or frequent start stop of the gearbox, and to prevent the viscosity of the lubricating oil from decreasing and the fluidity from increasing due to high oil temperature (caution should be taken when exceeding 80 ℃ for a long time), thereby penetrating the small sealing gap of the screw plug.

3、 Fault repair stage (targeted solution)

If oil leakage has already occurred, the following step-by-step plan can be followed for treatment:

1. Slight oil leakage: First clean the oil stains on the surface of the plug and check for looseness. If loose, tighten moderately in diagonal order; If it is not loose, apply a circle of oil resistant sealant around the screw for temporary sealing.

2. Obvious oil leakage: Stop the machine to drain the lubricating oil, remove the screw plug, and thoroughly remove the residue from the old gasket and thread. Replace with a brand new sealing gasket, reapply sealant and tighten.

3. Thread damage/slippage: If the thread of the plug hole has slipped or worn, the method of re tapping and replacing with a larger size plug can be used for hole enlargement; If the screw plug hole of the box is severely deformed, relevant components need to be replaced or professional polymer composite materials need to be used for filling and repair.
