What factors need to be considered when selecting the housing material for ZQ series soft tooth surface reducers
The ZQ series soft tooth surface reducer is a typical universal industrial reducer, usually used in light load, low-speed, and cost sensitive scenarios. When choosing the material for its casing, it is important to consider the following core factors:
1. Load characteristics and shock absorption performance
The ZQ series reducer is commonly used in equipment such as cranes and conveyors, and may face certain impact loads during operation.
Shock absorption: Grey cast iron (such as HT200, HT250) has excellent shock absorption performance, which can effectively absorb the vibration and noise generated during gear meshing and transmission processes.
Impact resistance and toughness: If there is significant impact or vibration in the working conditions, ductile iron (such as QT400-18) is a better choice. Compared to the brittleness of gray cast iron, ductile iron has extremely high toughness and significantly stronger impact resistance, which can greatly improve the service life of the box under harsh working conditions.
2. Production and manufacturing processes and costs
One major advantage of the ZQ series is its high cost-effectiveness and relatively simple processing technology.
Casting performance: Grey cast iron has excellent casting performance, good fluidity, and is easy to cast into complex box structures. It also has good cutting performance and can effectively control manufacturing costs.
Cost control: Under the premise of meeting basic performance requirements, the cost of gray cast iron is usually lower than that of ductile iron and cast steel. For ZQ, a large-scale and versatile reducer, material cost is an important consideration in material selection.
3. Production batch and structural form
Large scale production: If ZQ reducers are produced in large quantities, casting boxes (gray cast iron or ductile iron) are usually used because the cost per piece is lower after mold amortization.
Single piece or small batch: If it is customized or produced as a single piece, welded box bodies (such as Q235, Q345 carbon structural steel) can also be considered. The welded box has high strength and light weight, suitable for single piece production, but requires stress relief treatment after welding, and its shock absorption is not as good as cast iron.
