Characteristics and classification of reducers

A reducer is an independent component composed of gear transmission, worm drive, and gear worm drive enclosed in a rigid housing, commonly used as a reduction transmission device between the prime mover and the working machine. It plays a role in matching speed and transmitting torque between the prime mover and the working machine or actuator, and is widely used in modern machinery.

Reducer is generally used for low-speed, high torque transmission equipment. Electric motors, internal combustion engines, or other high-speed power are reduced by meshing the small toothed gear on the input shaft with the large gear on the output shaft through a reducer. Ordinary reducers also have several pairs of gears with the same principle to achieve the desired reduction effect. The gear ratio of large and small gears is the transmission ratio.

A reducer is a relatively precise machine that plays a role in matching speed and transmitting torque between the prime mover and the working machine or actuator. Its purpose is to reduce the speed and increase the torque. There are many types and models of it, and different types have different uses. The worm gear reducer has a reverse self-locking function and can have a larger reduction ratio. The input shaft and output shaft are not on the same axis or plane. However, it generally has a larger volume and lower transmission efficiency and accuracy. Harmonic reducer harmonic drive utilizes the controllable elastic deformation of flexible components to transmit motion and power, with small size and high accuracy. But its disadvantage is that the flexible wheel has a limited lifespan, is not resistant to impact, and has poor rigidity compared to metal parts. The input speed cannot be too high. The present invention has the advantages of compact structure, small return clearance, high precision, long service life, and high rated output torque. But the price is slightly higher. Gear reducers have the characteristics of small size and high torque transmission. Gear reducers are designed and manufactured based on modular combination systems, with a wide range of motor combinations, installation forms, and structural schemes. The transmission ratio is tightly graded, which can meet different working conditions and achieve mechatronics integration. Gear reducers have high transmission efficiency, low energy consumption, and superior performance. The cycloidal pinwheel reducer is a transmission model based on the principle of cycloidal pinwheel meshing planetary transmission. It is an ideal transmission device with many advantages, widely used, and can operate in both directions.
