What methods can be used to avoid the resonance risk of DCY315-20-V gear reducer

1. First determine whether it is resonance, rather than just treating it as ordinary vibration

Observe whether the vibration suddenly increases significantly near a certain speed, load, or frequency, and then decreases after leaving that point.

Perform spectrum analysis: If the amplitude at the meshing frequency, rotation frequency, or their harmonics significantly increases and moves with the speed, it is more likely to be a problem with gear meshing or shaft system; If the amplification is significant near a fixed frequency, it is important to suspect structural resonance.

Perform modal/ODS testing when conditions permit to confirm weak vibration modes on the housing, base, support, and coupling sides.

2. Installation and alignment: the most common and easily overlooked on site

The DCY series belongs to hard tooth surface gear reducers, and insufficient installation accuracy can significantly amplify vibrations.

Use a laser centering instrument or dial gauge to calibrate the coaxiality of the motor, reducer, and load. The radial deviation should be controlled within ≤ 0.05mm as much as possible, and the angular deviation should be executed according to the equipment manual.

Check the flatness of the base, anchor bolts, and flange bolts, tighten them diagonally and in stages according to torque requirements, and add anti loosening washers or anti loosening glue if necessary.

Avoid suspending the base, stacking multiple layers of gaskets, or foundation settlement; When the basic dynamic stiffness is insufficient, the base should be reinforced or additional reinforcing plates should be added.

Choose elastic couplings as much as possible and check the wear and aging of the elastic components.

3. Speed and frequency conversion control: avoid resonance range

If the vibration is concentrated near a certain speed, priority can be given to trying to "bypass".

Adjust the operating speed to keep the gear meshing frequency and rotation frequency away from the natural frequency of the casing or support.

When using a frequency converter, the jumping frequency/avoidance frequency can be set to quickly pass through the resonance speed range.

If driven by servo/variable frequency, adjust the speed loop gain and acceleration/deceleration curve appropriately to avoid staying in the resonance zone for a long time during the acceleration/deceleration process.

Attention: Speed adjustment should take into account process requirements, lubrication conditions, and motor capacity, and should not only focus on reducing vibration.

4. Improve structural stiffness or increase damping

When it is impossible to completely avoid the resonance frequency, the amplification factor can be reduced from the structural side.

Strengthen the reducer base, support, and connecting flange to improve the overall stiffness of the system.

Install vibration dampers, shock absorbers or isolation components between the box and the foundation, but be careful not to reduce the alignment accuracy and connection stiffness as a result.

The thin-walled part of the box can be treated with constraint layer damping to attenuate high-frequency vibration energy.

If resonance mainly comes from external structures, it is possible to consider adding isolation or absorption devices on the vibration transmission path.

5. Lubrication, load and component status management

Many 'suspected resonances' are actually amplified vibrations caused by the deterioration of gear, bearing, or shaft conditions.

Check the lubricating oil model, oil level, and oil temperature to avoid insufficient oil film causing increased meshing impact.

Check the gear meshing backlash and contact spots. Excessive backlash can cause impact, while insufficient backlash can cause jamming.

Check the bearing clearance, wear, and cage status; Bearing failure can significantly increase vibration and induce resonance sensation.

Avoid long-term overloading, frequent starting and stopping, impact loads, and unbalanced loads; Unbalanced loads can also complicate the vibration spectrum.
