Upgrading old gearboxes to increase speed without the need for a complete replacement is a cost-effective solution

To meet the demand for speeding up the renovation of old gearboxes and avoiding complete replacement, various low-cost "micro innovations" and repurposing renovation plans can be implemented. Here are several cost-effective and efficient renovation strategies that you have summarized:

1、 Partial replacement of core components and optimization of tooth ratio

If only the speed needs to be increased without replacing the entire gearbox body, it can be achieved by changing the internal gear shaft or input stage gear ratio. For example, while keeping the center distance and module of the original gearbox unchanged, only changing the number of teeth in the input stage (such as changing the number of teeth in the first stage gear shaft from 28 to 30, and changing the number of teeth in the second stage from 72 to 70) can effectively increase the output speed. The cost of locally replacing gears and gear shafts is much lower than purchasing a new gearbox, and it is completely feasible after strength verification.

2、 Modular low-cost transformation with mismatched interfaces

When facing the situation of mismatched planetary gearbox interfaces, the following three low-cost methods can be used to retrofit existing equipment to avoid complete replacement:

1. Customized adapter flange: By using non-standard customized flanges to solve installation hole deviation, the cost can be saved by about 20%.

2. Stacking precision shims: Using high-precision shims for adjustment effectively solves the problem of axial deviation.

3. Retaining the core energy storage group: Adopting a modular design approach, only the mismatched parts are modified, while retaining the original core functional components.

3、 Dismantling, Assembly, and Restoration of Waste Equipment

For multiple scrapped or damaged gearboxes, the "equipment barefoot doctor" can use their drilling power to disassemble the waste gearboxes, inspect and recycle reusable parts.
