Key points for selecting reducer for external grinding wheel drive
Torque is the key to measuring the load-bearing capacity of a gearbox. When selecting, it is not enough to only consider the motor power, but must be calculated based on the actual load torque, and sufficient safety factors must be reserved.
Calculation and matching: It is necessary to combine the rated torque of the motor with the reduction ratio to ensure that the theoretical output torque is less than the rated output torque of the reducer.
Safety factor: For working conditions such as moderate impact and inertial impact in the rotating system of the external grinding wheel, it is recommended to choose a safety factor of 1.5-2.0 times. For example, if the actual load torque is 2500N · m and the safety factor is taken as 1.8, the required rated output torque should be ≥ 4500N · m.
2. Material and anti fatigue structure (ensuring continuous heavy-duty working conditions)
24-hour full load operation places extremely high demands on the fatigue resistance, wear resistance, and heat dissipation effect of the gearbox.

High strength material: Gears must be made of high-strength alloy steel (such as 20CrMnTi) and undergo carburizing and quenching treatment to achieve a tooth surface hardness of HRC58-62, in order to withstand long-term full load wear and avoid tooth surface cracking.
High rigidity design: The body needs to have high rigidity and anti distortion ability, with tight gear meshing without looseness, to avoid displacement caused by long-term operation leading to a decrease in transmission accuracy.
3. Heat dissipation and lubrication system (to prevent overheating failure)
Continuous operation will generate a large amount of heat, and poor heat dissipation can lead to deterioration of lubricating oil, accelerated wear of gears, and even jamming.
Efficient heat dissipation structure: The body should adopt a structure design with good heat dissipation performance, matched with efficient heat dissipation fins, to timely discharge heat and prevent excessive oil temperature.
Special lubrication and sealing: long-term special lubricating oil with high temperature resistance and aging resistance shall be provided, and forced circulation lubrication system shall be adopted to ensure full lubrication. Meanwhile, multiple sealing structures are essential to prevent dust and impurities from entering the box and exacerbating wear.
4. Transmission accuracy and backlash control
High precision is a prerequisite for ensuring the quality of grinding processing.
Backclearance requirement: For CNC machine tools and high-precision transmission systems, it is recommended to choose precision grade (P1) reducers, and the backlash (back clearance) should be controlled within ≤ 5 arc minutes to ensure smooth operation of the grinding wheel and avoid speed fluctuations affecting grinding accuracy.
