What are the common faults of metal gear reducers

1. Abnormal noise and vibration

Metal impact sounds, persistent humming, or irregular noises during operation, accompanied by severe vibration, are often caused by gear wear and pitting, bearing damage, assembly looseness, or loose foundation bolts.

2. Overheating and Excessive Oil Temperature

The temperature of the housing and bearing areas exceeds the standard, with oil temperatures persistently over 85°C, primarily due to improper oil levels, degraded oil quality, excessive load, or blocked cooling channels.

3. Oil leakage and seepage

Oil stains on the housing mating surfaces and shaft end oil seals are primarily caused by aging seals, housing deformation, or excessive internal pressure due to clogged breathing valves.

4. Gear System Damage

Including tooth surface wear, pitting, scuffing, and even tooth fracture, these are mostly caused by lubrication failure, prolonged overload, or substandard gear heat treatment.

5. Bearing Failure

Issues such as overheating, cage fracture, and raceway spalling in bearings are often caused by poor lubrication, improper assembly clearance, or excessive axial force.

6. Shaft and Box Faults

Wear, bending, or even fracture of the input/output shafts, severe cases leading to housing cracks, are primarily caused by excessive radial forces, significant misalignment of couplings, or impact from broken gear teeth.
