If these 3 signs appear in the gearbox of the slitting machine, stop the machine immediately for maintenance. Don't wait until the motor burns to regret it
1. Abnormal noise and collision sound
The normal operation sound of the gearbox should be uniform and smooth. If the following abnormal sounds are heard, it indicates that the internal components have issued a "distress signal":
Knocking or impact sound: usually caused by bearing damage, gear tooth breakage, or metal foreign objects entering between teeth.
Continuous sharp whistling or high-frequency friction sound: It is mostly due to severe gear wear, improper assembly, or dry wear caused by bearing oil shortage.
Irregular "clanging" sound: It may be due to loose internal fasteners or excessive gear mesh clearance.
2. Severe abnormal vibrations
Abnormal vibration is a typical precursor to malignant faults, and if not dealt with in a timely manner, it can lead to chain failures:
Accelerated damage to core components: Continuous vibration can cause pitting, increased wear, and even tooth breakage on the tooth surface; At the same time, it will subject the bearings to alternating impact loads, causing fatigue pitting, cage fracture, and even burning and locking.
Inducing chain failure: Vibration will be transmitted to the driving motor, causing rotor sweeping, bearing damage, stator winding insulation wear, and ultimately leading to motor burnout.
Structural damage: Vibration can gradually loosen and detach the anchor bolts and box connecting bolts, and even cause cracks and oil leakage in the cast iron box.
3. Rapid increase in temperature
The 'fever' of the gearbox is a direct manifestation of increased internal friction or lubrication failure:
Lubrication system failure: Insufficient or excessive gear oil, deteriorated oil quality, or improper selection can all lead to poor heat dissipation and increased friction.

Bearing or gear damage: Bearing fitting problems, damage, or abnormal gear wear and overload operation can all generate a large amount of heat.
Environmental and heat dissipation issues: Blockage of exhaust valves, high ambient temperatures (such as high temperatures in summer), or failure of cooling systems can also lead to heat accumulation.
Urgent handling suggestion:
Once any of the above symptoms are confirmed, do not continue to operate with a mentality of luck. Immediately cut off the power and shut down the machine, and contact professional maintenance personnel for a comprehensive inspection (such as checking the oil level and quality, measuring bearing clearance, checking gear meshing, etc.) to avoid small problems from turning into major failures, causing greater economic losses and safety risks.
