How to use frame spirit level to check horizontal level of motor and ZDY355 3.55II reducer

The application of a frame spirit level for equipment inspection follows a standardized workflow: select proper accuracy grade, clean and prepare measuring surfaces, conduct multi-directional measurements, record readings and perform calibration. This method obtains reliable horizontal data in both longitudinal and transverse directions, and the results can also be combined with coaxiality inspection for comprehensive evaluation.

1. Pre-inspection Preparation

Select a frame spirit level with suitable precision. The 0.02mm/m model is recommended to satisfy the measurement accuracy requirements for the ZDY355-3.55-II reducer and matched motor. Shut down and cut off power supply. Let the unit cool down completely, as high temperature will distort measurement results. Confirm the equipment remains static during testing. Clean all measuring surfaces. Wipe oil stains, dust and iron debris off the motor base, reducer base and shaft end faces with a clean cloth. Make sure the spirit level can fully contact the surface without gaps. Inspect the frame spirit level. Verify the bubble vial is intact and the air bubble is visible. Carry out zero-point calibration on a standard flat surface before use, taking the centered bubble as the benchmark.

2. Measurement Procedures

Reducer Level Inspection

Transverse measurement: Put the frame spirit level on the horizontal plane of the reducer base, perpendicular to the shaft axis. Press the level gently for full contact. Observe bubble offset direction and magnitude, then log the reading. One scale division equals 0.02mm/m deviation. Longitudinal measurement: Rotate the spirit level by 90 degrees and position it on the longitudinal plane of the reducer base, parallel to the shaft axis. Repeat the operation and record longitudinal deviation data. Shaft end verification: Carefully place the spirit level on the flat input shaft end face of the reducer to measure shaft levelness, and cross-check the data against base readings.

Motor Level Inspection

Take the reducer as the reference standard. Measure transverse and longitudinal levelness of the motor base using the same method and record all readings. Likewise, place the spirit level on the motor output shaft end face to test motor shaft levelness, ensuring its horizontal trend matches the reducer shaft.

Data Calibration and Validation

Repeat measurements 2 to 3 times on each surface and adopt average values to minimize errors. Re-clean the measuring surface and retest if readings vary greatly. Compare level data of the motor and reducer. Both longitudinal and transverse deviations shall not exceed 0.05mm/m, meaning the bubble offset should be less than 2.5 scale divisions. Shaft end level deviation needs to be consistent with base deviation.

3. Critical Operation Notes

Handle the frame spirit level gently during placement. Avoid impact against the level or workpiece, which may damage precision. Keep your sight perpendicular to the bubble vial while reading to prevent parallax errors. If minor unevenness exists on the test surface, thin paper no thicker than 0.01mm can be laid to ensure close contact. Do not stack multiple sheets or thick shims, which will distort measured values. After measurement, clean the spirit level promptly and store it in a dry place. Prevent moisture and collision to preserve its accuracy.
