Maintenance Method of WPWEDKO100-155-1.5KW-900 Worm Gear Reducer

Each procedure covers operational standards, maintenance intervals, safety notes and application rationale, suitable for direct inclusion in equipment maintenance manuals or work instruction documents:

  1. Lubrication System Precision Maintenance (Core Maintenance Item) Maintenance Interval & Operating Steps: For newly commissioned units, carry out the initial oil replacement after 200 operating hours. Subsequent oil replacement of dedicated worm gear lubricant shall be performed every 5000 operating hours or once per calendar year, whichever occurs first. Before oil draining, shut down the equipment and allow it to cool to ambient temperature. Remove the bottom drain plug to fully discharge used oil, clear contaminants from the drain port, then refill with 220# extreme pressure industrial gear oil (or OEM-specified specialty lubricant) conforming to GB/T 3141. Maintain the oil level at the oil sight glass center mark (approximate volume 5–8L, matching the WPWEDKO100 housing capacity). After refilling, secure the oil plug and run the reducer for 10 minutes to verify no oil leakage.

Critical Notes: Never blend lubricants from different brands or grades, as incompatible additives may trigger oil degradation. Inspect oil condition during every maintenance session. If oil darkening, metallic particles, strange odour or emulsification is detected, stop operation immediately for oil change and internal wear inspection. Given heavy tooth surface loading arising from the 155 high reduction ratio, suitable extreme pressure anti-wear additives may be added to lubricant to extend the service life of worm and wheel meshing surfaces. For hygienic sectors including food and pharmaceutical production, NSF H1 food-grade lubricants must be adopted to eliminate product contamination hazards.

Application Rationale: This reducer model reaches a reduction ratio of 155, creating high contact pressure at worm-wheel meshing zones and substantial frictional heat. Premium lubricant effectively mitigates component wear. Continuous operation paired with a 1.5kW motor demands stable lubricant performance. Standardized oil change prevents tooth surface scuffing and accelerated wear caused by failed lubrication.

  1. Periodic Inspection & Maintenance of Key Components (Worm, Worm Wheel, Bearings) Maintenance Interval & Operating Steps: Conduct disassembly inspection of core parts every 3000 operating hours or every 6 months. Examine worm wheel tooth surfaces for pitting, abrasion and scuff marks. Check the copper-alloy worm wheel for tooth flaking or deformation. If tooth thickness wear exceeds 10% or obvious damage exists, replace with matching original spare parts promptly. Inspect working condition of input and output bearings. Rotate the output shaft manually to detect binding, abnormal noise or axial play. Replace with compatible deep groove ball bearings (typically 6205/6206 series, sized for WPWEDKO100 shaft dimensions) once defects are found. During reassembly, apply grease to the worm shaft and bearing inner rings.
