1. Product Overview: HXR 560 Rib Cooled Motors

The HXR 560 rib cooled motor features a heavy-duty cast iron frame. It is a totally enclosed fan cooled motor with IC411 cooling system and IP55 protection grade as standard. IC416 cooling and IP66 protection can be selected as optional configurations.

The HXR series motor reaches maximum output power of 2,250 kW at shaft height 560. It supports horizontal and vertical mounting layouts. This catalog lists technical data under 50 Hz condition only, while the motor can operate on both 50 Hz and 60 Hz power supply, with synchronous speed ranging from 500 to 3600 rpm.

3. Enclosure and cooling

Standard configuration: IC411 / IP55 HXR motors adopt external shaft-mounted fan, utilizing ambient air for heat dissipation. The motor is protected against dust ingress and water jets. Its working principle is shown in diagram 27.

Optional configuration: IC416 / IP55 IC416 cooling version is available for HXR motors. An independent auxiliary motor drives the cooling fan to provide sufficient cooling capacity for low-speed working conditions, especially when the motor is controlled by variable speed drives.

IP55 Protection • Dust protection: Limited dust may enter the housing, but the accumulated dust will not affect normal motor operation. • Water jet protection: Water jets sprayed from any direction by nozzle will not cause damage to the motor.

IP66 Protection (optional) HXR motors can be equipped with IP66 high protection grade. • Dust protection: The enclosure is fully dust-tight. • Water jet protection: Powerful water jets (12.5 mm nozzle) hitting the housing from any direction have no harmful impact.

IC411 Cooling Principle • Frame surface cooling: Coolant circulates inside the motor in a closed loop. Heat transfers through stator core and conductive components to the motor outer surface, then dissipates to ambient air. The frame can be plain or ribbed, with or without outer shell to improve heat exchange efficiency. • Self-circulation: Coolant flow relies on main motor rotation. It is driven by rotor, rotor-mounted parts, or fan/pump assembly mechanically coupled to the main motor rotor.
