1. Product Description
Modular Induction Motors — Type AMI
ABB
AMI engineered modular induction motors are designed to deliver high
reliability and availability in the toughest and most demanding
industrial applications.
Built
on one of the motor industry's most successful modular platforms, AMI
motors are tailor-made to meet the specific needs of each customer and
application. They offer the flexibility to be adapted into highly
specific configurations while matching a broad variety of demanding
application requirements.
AMI modular induction motors comply with all relevant international standards and are available for both direct-on-line (DOL) and variable speed drive (VSD) operation.

3. Enclosure and Cooling
IC01 / IP24 — Weather Protected
This
weather-protected motor features a shaft-mounted cooling fan inside the
housing. The motor design reduces the ingress of rain, snow, and
airborne particles into the electrical parts. On the air intake path,
the average air velocity does not exceed 3 m/s, allowing heavier particles to settle out. The air intake path includes three acute direction changes exceeding 90° to further reduce airflow to the optimal level. The motor is protected against splashing water from any direction.
IC611 / IP55 — Air-to-Air Heat Exchanger
This fully enclosed design incorporates an air-to-air heat exchanger mounted on the motor. Shaft-mounted fans are fitted on both the inside
and outside of the casing to supply the internal and external cooling
circuits respectively. The motor is protected against dust and splashing
water from any direction.
IC81W / IP55 — Air-to-Water Heat Exchanger
This fully enclosed motor is fitted with an air-to-water heat exchanger.
A shaft-mounted fan is installed inside the casing to supply the
internal cooling circuit. The motor is protected against dust and
splashing water from any direction.
IC31 / IP55 — Remote Cooling Air
This version is fitted with inlet and outlet ducts for the use of remote cooling air.
Essentially, this is the AMI motor frame supplied without an upper
cover. The motor is protected against dust and splashing water from any
direction.
IC01 — Asymmetric Internal Air Circulation
IC01 configuration with asymmetric inside air circulation is also available.
