1. Product Description

The AMI 630L10W B is a heavy-duty, engineered modular induction motor developed for the most demanding industrial applications, where both reliability and availability are non-negotiable. Each unit is custom-tailored to match the specific requirements of individual customers and operating conditions, built upon one of the most successful modular platforms in the motor industry.

This modular platform delivers broad application coverage while retaining the flexibility to accommodate highly specialized configurations. Fully compliant with all relevant international standards, the AMI motor supports both direct-on-line (DOL) and variable speed drive (VSD) operation.

The motor features a robust welded steel frame, available with the following standard cooling and protection combinations: IC01 / IP24W, IC611 / IP55, and IC81W / IP55. Standard shaft heights range from 400 mm to 630 mm, and the unit may be mounted either horizontally or vertically.

While the catalog data is presented at 50 Hz, the AMI motor operates equally well at both 50 Hz and 60 Hz, achieving synchronous speeds from 500 to 3,600 rpm. Output ratings covered in this catalog reach up to 8,000 kW, with the complete product range extending to as high as 23,000 kW.


2. Mounting Arrangements

Standard mounting configurations for the AMI motor are listed below; alternative arrangements are available on request.

  • IM B3 (Code I) / IM 1001 (Code II): Horizontal, foot-mounted.
  • IM V1 (Code I) / IM 4011 (Code II): Vertical, flange-mounted (free shaft end facing downward).

3. Enclosure and Cooling

IC01 / IP24 — This weather-protected motor is equipped with a shaft-mounted cooling fan housed inside the enclosure. Its design minimizes the ingress of rain, snow, and airborne particles into the electrical components. On the air-intake path, the average velocity is deliberately kept below 3 m/s, allowing heavier particles to settle out. Three sharp direction changes exceeding 90° further reduce airflow to the optimal rate, while the motor remains fully protected against splashing water from any direction.

IC611 / IP55 — This design incorporates a fully enclosed air-to-air heat exchanger mounted on the motor. Shaft-mounted fans are fitted on both the inside and outside of the casing, supplying the internal and external cooling circuits respectively. The motor is safeguarded against dust and splashing water from any direction.

IC81W / IP55 — This fully enclosed motor is fitted with an air-to-water heat exchanger. A shaft-mounted fan inside the casing drives the internal cooling circuit. Like the other variants, it is protected against dust and splashing water from any direction.

IC31 / IP55 — This version is fitted with inlet and outlet pipes for remote cooling air supply. Essentially, it is the AMI motor frame without an upper cover, and remains protected against dust and splashing water from any direction.

Note: An IC01 configuration with asymmetric internal air circulation is also available.


4. Packaging

  • Standard export seaworthy packaging.

5. Warranty Period

Standard warranty covers 12 months after commissioning or 18 months after delivery, whichever occurs first. Extended warranty options are available upon request — please contact us for details.
