1. Product Overview

AXR Series Rib-Cooled Induction Motors This latest-generation multi-purpose rib-cooled motor features high power density, flexible configuration and easy maintenance. It is built upon decades of electric motor manufacturing experience.

The AXR series sets a new industry benchmark, achieving superior watts-per-kilogram performance versus traditional rib-cooled motors. Thanks to its high power density, users can often select a motor with one smaller frame size for the same power output. This saves installation space and enables compact system design.

AXR motors conform to major industry standards including API 541 and Shell DEP, alongside custom client specifications. The motor adopts a heavy-duty cast iron frame.

Standard configuration includes rib cooling design with IC411 cooling system and IP55 protection. IC416 cooling and IP66 protection are available as options; the IP66 rating is validated by a renowned independent test institute.

AXR motor power range extends up to 1,800 kW, with shaft heights from 315 mm to 500 mm. Both horizontal and vertical mounting are supported. This catalog provides technical data for AXR motors at 50Hz and 60Hz, covering synchronous speeds from 500 rpm to 3600 rpm.

2. Mounting Arrangements

Standard mounting configurations for AXR motors

• Code I: IM B3, Code II: IM 1001. Standard floor mounting, feet downward (horizontal foot-mounted).
• Code I: IM V1, Code II: IM 4011. Flange mounted with free shaft end downward (vertical solid shaft flange mounting).
• Code I: IM B35, Code II: IM 2001. Horizontal foot-and-flange mounting, flange integrated on end shield, single cylindrical shaft extension, feet downward.

3. Enclosure and Cooling

Standard combinations: IC411 / IP55 AXR motors are fitted with an externally shaft-driven fan that draws ambient air for cooling. The enclosure protects the motor against dust ingress and water jets. The working principle is illustrated in the schematic diagram.

IC416 / IP55 optional AXR motors can be equipped with IC416 cooling. A separate auxiliary motor drives the cooling fan to deliver sufficient cooling airflow for low-speed scenarios, especially when the motor runs with variable speed drives.

IP55 Protection

• Dust protection: A limited amount of dust may enter the enclosure, but the quantity will not impair normal motor operation.
• Water jet protection: Water sprayed from nozzles from any direction will not cause damage to the motor.

IP66 Protection (Optional)

• Dust protection: The enclosure is fully dust-tight.
• Water jet protection: Powerful water jets (12.5 mm nozzle) hitting the enclosure from any direction will not lead to motor damage.

IC411 Cooling Principle

• Frame surface cooling: Coolant circulates inside the motor in a closed loop. Heat transfers through the motor outer surface (along with heat conduction via stator core and other thermally conductive parts) to the surrounding ambient medium. The surface can be plain or ribbed; an outer shell may be added to boost heat dissipation.
• Self-circulation: Coolant movement relies on the rotation of the main motor rotor. Driving force comes directly from the rotor, or a fan/pump assembly mechanically coupled to the main motor rotor.

4. Packaging

Export-grade seaworthy packaging Plywood case or fumigated wooden case. Suitable for long-distance sea and land transport.

5. Warranty
