The AXR Series is the latest generation of multipurpose rib-cooled motors, featuring high power density, flexible configuration, and built-in serviceability. With a rugged cast-iron frame, these motors are designed for industrial drive applications and comply with major industry standards such as API 541 and Shell DEP, as well as customer-specific requirements.
Thanks to their high power density, AXR motors often allow the use of a frame size one step smaller than conventional products for the same output, helping to save installation space and enable more compact layouts.

Product Description
The AXR Series rib-cooled motors offer high power density, allowing a smaller motor frame to deliver the same output as larger conventional designs. This helps reduce installation space and supports more compact system layouts.
The motors feature a robust cast-iron frame. The standard configuration includes IC411 cooling and IP55 protection. Optional configurations include IC416 cooling and IP66 protection.
The AXR Series covers output ratings up to 1800 kW, with frame heights from 315 mm to 500 mm. Both horizontal and vertical mounting are supported. Technical data are available for 50 Hz and 60 Hz operation, with synchronous speeds ranging from approximately 500 rpm to 3600 rpm.
Mounting Arrangements
The AXR Series supports several standard mounting arrangements:
Enclosure and Cooling
1. IC411 / IP55
Standard configuration.

An externally mounted shaft fan uses ambient air for cooling.

The motor is protected against dust ingress and water jets from any direction.

Suitable for general industrial applications.
2. IC416 / IP55
Optional configuration.

An auxiliary motor drives the cooling fan.

Better suited for low-speed operation, especially when the motor is supplied by a variable-speed drive.

Helps maintain effective cooling even at reduced motor speeds.
3. IP55 Protection

Dust protection: Limited dust ingress is permitted, but not enough to interfere with normal motor operation.

Water protection: Water jets from any direction have no harmful effect.
4. IP66 Protection
Optional configuration.

Dust protection: The enclosure is completely dust-tight.

Water protection: Powerful water jets, including 12.5 mm nozzle jets from any direction, have no harmful effect.
5. IC411 Cooling Principle

Frame surface cooling: The primary coolant circulates in a closed circuit inside the motor and transfers heat through the external motor surface to the surrounding medium. The surface may be plain or ribbed, with or without an outer shell, to improve heat transfer.

Self-circulation: The coolant is moved in proportion to the main motor speed, either by the rotor itself or by a fan or pump unit mechanically driven by the rotor or main motor.
Packaging
The AXR Series motors are packed in standard seaworthy export packaging, suitable for long-distance transportation by sea or land.

Warranty
The standard warranty period is whichever comes first:
