The AXR rib-cooled motor family marks the next step in industrial motor design. Built on decades of field-tested manufacturing know-how, these machines deliver an exceptionally high watts-per-kilogram ratio — setting a new industry reference for rib-cooled units. Because of this density advantage, users can often spec one frame size smaller than conventional motors at the same output, freeing up valuable floor space and allowing tighter, more compact equipment layouts.

AXR motors are manufactured to meet or exceed leading industry specifications, including API 541 and Shell DEP, in addition to custom client requirements. The robust cast-iron housing provides outstanding mechanical rigidity and durability in demanding environments. As standard, the series uses IC411 cooling with IP55 enclosure protection; an IC416 cooling variant and optional IP66 protection (independently verified by a recognized testing authority) are also available for more severe operating conditions.

The lineup covers outputs up to 1,800 kW with shaft heights ranging from 315 to 500 mm, and supports both horizontal and vertical mounting. Technical data in this catalog is presented at 50 Hz and 60 Hz, spanning synchronous speeds from 500 to 3,600 rpm.

2. Enclosure & Cooling Combinations

IC411 / IP55 (Standard) — An external shaft-mounted fan draws in ambient air for cooling. The enclosure is protected against dust ingress and water jets from all directions. The operating principle is illustrated in the accompanying diagram.

IC416 / IP55 (Optional) — A separate motor drives the cooling fan, providing effective cooling at low speeds, particularly when the motor is powered through a variable-speed drive.

Protection Rating IP55

• Dust: limited dust may enter but not enough to interfere with normal operation.
• Water jets: water sprayed from a nozzle from any direction causes no harmful effect.

Protection Rating IP66

• Dust: the enclosure is completely dust-tight.
• Water jets: powerful water jets (12.5 mm nozzle) from any direction cause no harmful effect.

Cooling Method IC411

• Frame surface cooled: the primary coolant circulates in a closed circuit inside the motor, releasing heat through the external surface (in addition to the stator core and other heat-conducting parts) to the surrounding medium. The surface may be plain or ribbed, with or without an outer shell to improve heat transfer.
• Self circulation: coolant flow depends on the main motor's rotational speed — driven directly by the rotor, by a purpose-built component mounted on the rotor, or by a fan/pump unit mechanically driven by the main motor.

Standard seaworthy export packaging: plywood crates or fumigated wooden cases, suitable for long-distance sea and land transport.
